Hosts
Zack and Camille Dettmore are the husband-and-wife team guiding first-time homeowners on This First House, a series from the This Old House franchise. Zack, a carpenter and builder and founder of Dettmore Home Improvements, brings hands-on construction expertise to each project. Camille helps manage the renovation process and keeps homeowners organized as they navigate the many decisions involved in buying and improving their first home. Together, they work alongside experts in real estate, mortgages, legal services, and construction to help new homeowners turn a first house into a home.

Zachary Dettmore
Zachary Dettmore started working in construction at 11 years old as a laborer, sweeping floors and carrying materials on job sites. Over time, he worked his way up to become a carpenter and eventually founded Dettmore Home Improvements, a company focused on renovating older homes in northern New Jersey. Along the way he began sharing his work, tools, and lessons from the job site on social media, where he built a large following interested in craftsmanship and historic houses. That online presence eventually led to him being discovered by the producers of This Old House. Today, Zach splits his time between running renovation projects, teaching about building science and traditional construction, and occasionally opening walls to see what surprises are hiding inside. His proudest accomplishment, however, is being a father to his two kids.
Camille Dettmore
Camille Dettmore grew up on an organic farm in upstate New York, where she learned everything from cheese making to living close to the land. Farm life instilled in her a deep appreciation for hard work and for the idea that the quality of ingredients—or materials—truly matters. After college, her passion for the arts led her into television production, where she worked for many years. She eventually joined forces with her husband Zachary to help manage their growing renovation business, Dettmore Home Improvements, stepping in as Director of Operations. Her background in production and organization unexpectedly proved invaluable when the company began collaborating with This Old House. Today Camille helps guide both the operations and storytelling behind the company's work, blending creativity, organization, and a lifelong respect for craftsmanship. When she's not sending emails, Camille loves her gig as a mom, claims to have a running habit, and is always looking for a new excuse to go antiquing.
